By Mukesh Ropeta

JACOBABAD: Inspector-General of the Balochistan Police, Tariq Masood Khosa, said on Sunday the investigations had shown that a foreign hand was involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan, including the killing of soldiers in Quetta.

Talking to reporters at the office of the Jaffarabad district police officer, Khosa reiterated the governmentís resolve to stop all terrorist activities in Balochistan. He said the perpetrators behind the Thursday’s killing of nine people would be apprehended soon. “Two members of the BLA, Sher Dil and Wahid Qambar, are being interrogated in this regard. Both of them were arrested from Khuzdar,” he said.

Khosa denied the presence of Taliban training camps in Balochistan. He added that US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher also had clarified during his visit to Balochistan that there was no evidence of Taliban using Balochistan land for terrorist activities.

The Balochistan IGP said a group of so-called nationalist parties, who did not want development to take place in the province, was misguiding the youths. Khosa said 16,000 policemen would be soon recruited to improve law and order.

The IGP admitted that districts converted from B to A areas had been facing shortage of facilities, and added the provincial government with the help of federal government was trying to overcome it.

APP adds: Elements involved in the atrocious act would be brought to justice after completion of the investigation, he declared. “Police had arrested main commanders of BLA, who is wanted for attacking students from the Punjab at the Khuzdar Engineering University. Now, miscreants of the banned organisation are targeting police personnel and security forces in retaliation,” he said.

The Balochistan IGP also addressed senior police officials of Dera Bugti, Nasirabad and Jaffarabad districts, and directed them to perform their duties sincerely and make strenuous efforts for maintaining law and order in their respective districts.
